Milky, a free vector icon set - part 4

Posted by Min Tran on 04 Jun 2008. 26 comments

New week has come. Milky now returns with the forth part. At previous requests, I add some “user” icons into the set. Enjoy it!

Description

This icon set of Milky is designed in EPS 8 vector format, including 48x48 and 64x64 PNG image and SVG files.

Milky will be released on a weekly basic. Every week I will add more 15 icons into the set. So how many icons does Milky have in total? Well, I’m not sure, maybe the set of Milky will have up to dozens or few hundreds or few thousands (hopefully) of icons. Grab the RSS to stay updated with the latest ones.

You can use Milky for personal and commercial projects at free of charge, if you use Milky for your websites, backlinks and credit are appreciated.

Agreements

By downloading this icon set, you must agree with the following terms:

  • Do not redistribute or sell any icons of this set. Do not modify the icons and release as free or paid icons.
  • Do not provide the direct download link nor upload Milky onto other servers for your own share (Please link to this article instead). If you want to spread the words, just link to this article.

Updated: Milky is complete

@Sonny: thanks for your kind words. I and Vu actually work on it as a personal project when we have free time. I don’t feel like “working” at all :)

Hey,

I just read the article on Smashing Mag, very informative.

Have you written other articles for them?

@Jason: I’m currently working on some secret stuffs for Smashing Magazine. Just can’t tell you now.

I read the tutorial, great info. Just wondering about the colors. In the tutorial you used simple gradients, but when I open Milky I see lots of complex gradients. What’s up with that? How do you apply them to make sure it’s consistent trought the series?

Min Tran 12 Jun 2008

@Andrej: The secrets of consistency are lying in the color swatches palette, which I mentioned in the tutorial.

Andrej 12 Jun 2008

I’m used to linear gradients, I always specify the exact amount angle by typing in the numbers, that’s how I get different iconss to have consistent colors. With radial gradients and draging I just can’t do it. For example the highlight on the eraser blends nicely with the eraser on one end. I can’t get that. This is my pencil

PS: I commented on the wrong post, sry.

Great set! Thank You very much. I am going to use these in a commercial project if that’s ok. If so, I would like to hire you for additional icons that we need for our interface. Please send me an email for more information. Thanks again! I will spread the word for sure!
